350 Million People Online
It seems that this thing called the "Internet" is going to grow
by 35.2 million people this year, to 130.6 million, according to
a report from eMarketer. That's not all, by 2003, after we've all
got bored of talking to each other and sealed ourselves in our
Aminospheres to protect us from a new wave of virus attacks,
there will be 350 million people competing for bandwidth.
The report, which "incorporates data from hundreds of different
sources", also found that worldwide electronic commerce
revenues will increase from $98.4 billion in 1999 to $1.2 trillion
by 2003, while the U.S. will earn a majority share of every
e-commerce dollar. Germany collects the second-highest level
of worldwide e-commerce revenues, with $1.5 billion in 1998
and $4.4 billion predicted for 1999, while the United Kingdom
follows, with $3.7 billion in 1999, up from $1.49 billion in 1998.
So, there you go, a nice concise paragraph for you next marketing
report. If you boss wants to know what an Aminosphere is, then
get him to drop us a mail and we'll tell him all about them.
