Taking A Slash

Well, it looks like those wiseguys in Slashdot.org have hung-up their anti-corporate conscience, cranked up "Oh, La, La" on the office stereo and invited Andover.net to join the party. Yup, the Slashers have just shaken the remaining drips of their "finances"" for the last time before handing it over to someone else to clean up. It sounds like a Win Win to me.

Based in Holland, Mich., Slashdot have been "one of those sites" that makes grown men giggling whilst making hardcore techies weep, it is a "sacred" place to many for the on-going debates of online happenings. As their dib dib motto says, "News for Nerds, Stuff that Matters."

"I'll have the ability to pay people that have been volunteering hundreds of hours of time to help," wrote site founder Rob Malda, better known as "Cmdr. Taco," in an open letter to Slashdot readers. "And I have complete control over Slashdot's future, without the financial burden that has been growing over the last year. This couldn't be better for Slashdot, and I hope I haven't offended anyone too bad. We fundamentally will not change anything, we'll just have a better infrastructure to do what we've always done."

Both parties in the deal vow not to change Slashdot's attitude, which is refreshing after seeing what happened to Nullsoft when AOL got their hands on it.
