The Qui-Gon Show

We could start a complete new section on Ninfomania for Star Wars spoof stories as they always seem to catch our eye every Friday in Film Threat.

So this week is the news that "The Qui-Gon Show" is the winner of the "Makin' Wookiee" contest co- sponsored by D.FILM [alright Bart!] and Atom Films. A panel of judges, headed by Billy Dee Williams picked a script from over 300 entries to be transformed into a "made-for-the-web" movie by a team of crack digital filmmakers (as in "they were on crack").

Robert Fyvolent's script pits Liam Neeson's character Qui-Gon Jinn into scenarios inspired by "The Truman Show" and "The Matrix", calling into question issues of identity, consumerism and Yoda. Harnessing the awesome power of QuickTime 4, this movie switches from video to Flash animation as an aesthetic and storytelling device and as a means to keep file size down. It is directed by Evan Mather, John Stavopoulos and Jason Wishnow.
