Brainwave Drawings

New York streaming pioneers ParkBench will present Web Seance:, a series of live, internet performances in which participants will collaborate via the Web on "brainwave drawings" beginning on June 16th in the Walter Phillips Gallery. ParkBench is comprised of Nina Sobell and Emily Hartzell, who since 1993 have been involved in online collaborations through web-casting where public interactions shape the interface between physical space and cyberspace.

Halifax-based artist Bruce Barber will present Squat. The artist has designed a squat, a room within the Walter Phillips Gallery, that will be inhabited by an aspiring writer who will be able to communicate with other writers on the internet via the Gallery's live webcam and chat room. The squatter will collaborate with Barber and other writers and artists to produce a manuscript for publication. Barber is an artist, writer and curator and is a professor of Media Art and Visual Culture Studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
