Digital Pitch

It seems this is the time of change for the film industry as everyone seems to be slipping the word "digital" into their event, production or festival and reaping the rewards. The latest entry into this ever changing "search & replace" chart is at number 4.

"Digital Pitch is", as the organisers explain, "in the tradition of venture capital conferences, particularly conferences in the internet and new media industry. A selected number of companies drawn from the two thousand member online community of webcinema filmmakers will have the opportunity to present their companies to investors and executives in film and new media companies attending the conferences, either in person or via the web site, and view their product/pitch reel."

After each presentation the investors will have the opportunity to question the companies regarding their companies and view trailers and demo reels of their upcoming productions, either at the event itself or on-line, via private email communications and streaming videos of the reels.

Investors in film companies participating in Digital Pitch will have the option to acquire an equity stake in the company or if they are distributors, an output deal, where for a certain amount of money they have first refusal rights to all the current productions of the company for a set amount of time. By investing in a company rather than a single film production they have the advantage of increasing their chance for success by spreading the risk.

Digital Pitch happens on June 26th in at the Williamsburg Film Festival, New York City.
