Work The Web
We are still getting complaints from studio managers
that entire creative teams aren't doing any work on Friday
afternoons as they are mailing each info bombs from the
newzfeed ... and a new joint report commissioned by
Pitney Bowes does little to support their case.
The study, which was published a couple of weeks ago
but we were too distracted by all our other emails to
read it, stated that workers in the US, the United Kingdom
and Germany are "interrupted by telephones, faxes, and
e-mail every 10 minutes. Workers in the US receive an
average of 200 e-mail messages per day, while in the
United Kingdom workers receive 171 messages per day,
half of which are from people within the workers'
departments." See, you're not doing any work now are
you?
The report went on to say that although e-mail is intended
to save time and ease communication, they can become
a burden, as 38 percent of UK workers claim that they
are very distracted by the interruptions. So what's
the solution then clever clogs?
