Kids Comdex
As the large manufacturer find new markets to exploit
and people to seduce, it looks like the force of the fully
fledged "wow" factor is the latest weapon for ... kids.
The Digital Kids conference this week looked at the
possibilities of getting more candy for your Cabbage
Patch or cred for your computer game, whilst still
protecting them from the "Dark Side" of the net.
There has apparently, according to Jupiter Communications
organisers of the event, been a 50 percent increase in the
the number of kids online and "while time spent online has
doubled to four-and-a-half hours per week". The study
also found that "kids in low-income households have
surpassed those in high-income homes to become the
heaviest Net users". Well, that's a good enough reason to
sell stuff they don't want to them so their parents can't
afford the college fees.
